The Americans Are Coming; Spiritualution Is On Its Way

by Gabriel of Urantia

My father was a marine who fought in the Pacific Islands during World War II, and my father’s brother (my uncle) was a tanker in the army who fought in the European arena. Both of them used to tell me, not so much of the ugliness of the war, but, how wonderful it was when they heard the sounds of the people crying out, “The Americans are coming!” as they were being liberated from their oppressors. Today, we hear much about the ugly American syndrome which is so prevalent around the world. We hear how Americans are looked down upon. Not too many nations today are crying out with joyful expectations, “The Americans are coming!”

The United States of America certainly has not been perfect in its history, especially in the treatment of Native Americans, African Amer-icans, and other minority groups. It is a sad state of affairs when any war has to be fought for any reason, for the innocent die on both sides.

Despite all the wrong that America has done in the past from its conception of the thirteen colonies, as well as in the present, this country has been a beacon of light for immigrants from all over the world. For many oppressed and im-poverished people, America has been, and continues to be, a hope of a new life, a new world, a new order of the ages.

Now it is time for a Divine New Order, a Spiritualution, to take place. A revolution of weapons is not what we need. The American Civil War of the nineteenth century could have been avoided, as all wars can be, if human beings would only follow the simple truth of what Jesus said over and over again, “Not my will be done, Father, but Thy will be done.” In all of its imperfections, I believe America, throughout its young history of two hundred years, has led the world in many ways because many of its citizens have, to some degree, followed that truth, “Thy will be done.”

With the indulgences of materialism, greed, and selfishness, more Americans now make decisions based on their own self-interests and self-concern. When this happens at a government level, we have tyranny, bureaucracy, and the loss of individual freedom. When this happens at a corporate level, we have greed and monopolies that restrict the freedom of individuals as well as of private enterprise.

The original intention of our founding fathers who composed and signed the Constitution of the United States was that individuals could pursue their own destinies within the will of God, that individuals would have the freedom of choice, and that the government would be set up to help those people meet their unique destiny in God—to become servants of humankind to some degree in whatever career they chose.

Those called to be craftsmen would make the best crafts with the best tools. That is why America led the way in quality craftsmanship for more than one hundred and fifty years. What has happened to that American craftsmanship? What’s happened to American craftsmen? Most products are now made to fall apart in a few years—planned obsolescence. No wonder people are afraid to fly in airplanes! How can you trust an industrialized society that makes parts, on which your life depends, designed to fall apart within a few years? The recall of the Firestone tires that reportedly resulted in the deaths of at least sixty-two people in the past few years is a case in point.

Becoming a doctor (in the original intent of freedom to pursue individual choices of career, religion, and happiness) did not mean that an individual was in it for the money; it meant that he/she had a desire and a true calling to heal others. In the beginning days of our country, doctors were willing to make house visits. How many doctors today make house visits? How many doctors today even accept telephone calls?

Remember Abraham Lincoln? He was a lawyer. The word lawyer in his time wasn’t a dirty word. He was considered by many a man of honor and was respected by most of his colleagues and countrymen. The fact that he was an attorney didn’t discredit him. Today, attorneys are met with distrust and disdain. Many who practice law do so to make as much money as they can. Justice to many attorneys means winning, no matter what the circumstances, and getting as much money as possible for themselves out of the case.

We Americans have lost our ideals. Journalism also used to be a respected profession where true journalistic investigation led to truth; “journalist” and “integrity” were synonymous. Today, journalism is more often than not sensationalism. For example, many of our television news magazines are not based on actual news but on sensationalized reporting that has little substance or nearness to any facts or truth in their commentaries. Movies and television shows do not have to be so sexually explicit that the spirit of God within us is insulted. We all know what sex is; we don’t have to see it so graphically expressed. Nor should there be commercials with the overt sexual innuendoes that even our children sometimes see in between their programs. The Hollywood of America has brought the lusts of Babylon to the whole world. The film industry can be a powerful force for positive change and consciousness expansion, as seen in movies like Chariots of Fire, The Green Mile, and the more recent Whale Rider. There is no value in appealing to the lower nature of humans.

American magazines do not have to be so materialistically oriented and sexually explicit. As a result, our children are influenced to try to act grown up far beyond their years. Children do not have the emotional maturity to live up to the attitudes that businesses encourage them, in advertisements, to express. The innocence of youth is lost to the imagery of commercialized sexual energy reflected by young models who are not mature enough to understand what it is to even keep a roof over their heads, let alone express attitudes of independence and sexual maturity. “The Americans are coming!” should not mean that parents or families of other cultures need to hide American magazines so that their children don’t see how the American teens are provocatively dressed.

Those in positions of influence in media, as well as in other corporate entities, need to be the first Americans to ask their God, “Father what is Your will?” They need to understand what “Thy will be done” means. All Americans need to seek a Spiritual-ution for their individual problems. Stated simply, Spiritualution is making decisions that are God’s choices in all walks of life, addressing all problems from a spiritized perspective. How many Americans are taught from childhood to ask God for His will in all things, moment to moment, not just in a few decisions in life, like what career to pursue or who to marry? How many even ask God His will in those areas?

If the majority of Americans would begin to seek God’s perfect will in all decisions of life, then our nation would have a Spiritualution which would eventually cause the whole world to make a quantum leap into higher consciousness. America could lead the way. Then the phrase, “The Americans are coming!” could be seen to be the liberation of the whole world to bring a Divine New Order to all on this planet, for we are indeed planetary brothers and sisters.

Becoming part of the Spiritualution will mean that you have to trust God above your employer. A Spiritualution will mean you will have to trust God above anything or anybody. Being a part of the Spiritualution for this planet will mean becoming part of the solution because “Spiritualution is the Solution™.”

The United States of America stands at the threshold of having the responsibility as a nation to help better the world. Becoming one global family is a high ideal. It can only be done through a Divine New Order where divine principles are kept by billions of individuals who are connected to the divine mind. Collectively, God’s will is then made manifest, and ethical leaders can rise up from obscurity because individuals would have then learned to recognize those true spiritual leaders, not because of the money or prestige they have, but because (as with Jesus of Nazareth) of the humility and truth they have. The United States of America could become the United States of the World, where all races and all religions can blend into one—one common family of God.

Yes, I have a dream. It is the same dream that the founding fathers of America had, two being George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. It is the same dream of another great American, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. To have even part of this dream as a world leader makes an individual a higher servant of humankind, like John and Robert Kennedy, Anwar el Sadat, Yitzak Rabin, and activists like Steven Biko, Father Oscar Romero, and Ken Saro-Wiwa. It is the dream of legends like King Arthur of Camelot. It is the same dream that Jesus Christ Michael, the Creator Son of our local universe, had, who came to this planet of lost drams to tell us of His dream and remind us of our lost dreams. I have a dream, the dream of a common planetary understanding of the Father in heaven and of all people learning moment to moment of the Father’s will. Can we do it? I think we can. I am optimistic enough to become part of the solution. I pray you will too.

“[True] Religion is ever and always rooted and grounded in personal experience. And your highest religion, the life of Jesus, was just such a personal experience: man, mortal man, seeking God and finding him to the fullness during one short life in the flesh, while in the same human experience there appeared God seeking man and finding him to the full satisfaction of the perfect soul of infinite supremacy. And that is religion, even the highest yet revealed in the universe of Nebadon—the earth life of Jesus of Nazareth.” (The URANTIA Book, p. 1128:03)
